After two years of hard work, early mornings, late-night revision, and endless cups of tea, A-Level Results Day is finally here.
For some, it’s the day you’ve been dreaming of, the grades are in, your university place is confirmed, and you’re ready for the next adventure. For others, it can bring surprises, changes of plan, or tough decisions.
Whatever your results, there is always a next step. This guide will walk you through what to expect and how to handle the day with confidence.
When and how results are released on A-Level Results Day 2025
Date: Thursday 14th August 2025.
Most schools and colleges open from 8am for you to collect your results in person.
From the same time, you can log into UCAS Hub to see if your university offer has been confirmed.
If you got the grades you needed
Celebrate, you’ve earned it.
Get ready for your next step: university, an apprenticeship, or work.
Sort out the important things early, like accommodation, travel, and any documents you’ll need.
Keep your mind active with a little reading or research before you start your course.
If things didn’t go to plan
You still have options:
Clearing – This is how you find a place on a university course that still has spaces. Clearing opens before results day, but you can add a Clearing choice in UCAS from 1pm on results day. Be ready to call universities directly, spots can go fast.
Appeals – If you think a grade is wrong, speak to your school or college as soon as possible about a remark.
Resits – If you want to try again, start preparing early. Having a clear plan from the start makes a big difference.
Looking after yourself on results day
Take a moment before you react, give yourself space to think.
Talk to someone you trust.
Remember: one set of grades does not decide your whole future.
For parents
Stay calm — your tone will help your teen manage their emotions.
Focus on what’s possible next, not just the grades on paper.
Help them with research, phone calls, and organising options.
If resits are part of the plan
Start now, little and often works best.
Find out exactly where marks were lost.
Work on exam technique as well as knowledge.
Consider extra support, even a short burst of tutoring can boost skills and confidence.
Moving forward
A-Level Results Day is just one chapter. Whether you’re celebrating, making new plans, or preparing for a comeback with resits, the most important thing is to keep moving forward.
